MWOTR Volume 3 Cover Art

We told you a few days ago Lee completed a nearly 30 page Volume 3 comic. We also told you early on we were looking into various designs for our characters in a video game.

So we decided  a fun thing to do would be to celebrate the 3rd and final comic of 2013 with a video game cover that brings together all the nostalgia of Nintendo’s NES Wrestling and Tecmo Pro Wrestling.

To get this done we asked a favor of Brent Tucker, a retro video game artist/enthusiast who has done work for our friends at Spy Monkey this past year to work us up some character models in the vintage style. If you want to see more of his work visit his site

We hope to see more art and work by Brent on our line in the future, and I will say again I can’t wait till people read this comic!

New Colors incoming :)

After a successful launch with our Flesh and Red, we are now releasing 3 more colors for the Holiday Season.

They are currently in transit from China and we hope to have them available shortly (maybe by weeks end!).

In honor of our partnership with True Cast Studio (whose company color is Blue) and our use of metallic in our prototypes we are offering a Pearlescent Blue colorway.

We will also be offering a Glow in the Dark set of 3 for 10.00, also  at the True Cast Studio Store. These will come packaged with a different sticker then we have been using, one customized for Glow in the Dark.

Lee reflects on working with MWOTR

Resident MWOTR comic book artist Lee Burbridge took some time out this weekend from the 3rd comic to reflect on working with us

It’s a very touching read and I can’t stress enough how blessed I am to be working with individuals who show the same passion for this line that I do.

He also sent along two neat character reference sheets

We give you Tembo Jiwe, the next Giant figure!

As we move along we always want to try out new things and I like to push Simon in terms of what we can do for of our sculpts.

When we put things to a vote earlier this year and Tembo came out near the top we wanted to make sure we went that extra mile and got a Giant who not only could take on Kayin and Goliath but set the standard for our Giants going forward.

Scaling is very important to us, we make each character unique and their size plays into that, just as Kayin is taller than Goliath but not as wide, Tembo is taller then both and in the middle as far as bulk. This affords him the ability to put up a fight with both characters. Kayin gains the ability to use his aerial speed and acrobatics that he cannot really use on the smaller figures, and Goliath has a foe he can literally go toe to toe with (think Andre the Giant vs Big John Studd).

As always Simon did an amazing job with his sculpt and major thanks and props go out to Josh Edwards of True Cast Studio for getting this guy ready for prime time. We will have some more pictures of him next week against other figures to give you the true sense of scale. You will also notice in 2 of the pictures a little hint at our other projects that are being worked on 😉

So enough of my rambling, currently set to be a C2e2 Exclusive Release we are proud to finally reveal the first 2014 Sculpt (remember Yvonne was a preview figure)

Tembo Concept Sketch

Tembo Jiwe week continues with a look at his original sketch, done by my longtime friend Garry Hess.

The story behind his creation is that I had an idea for a Giant who was the enemy of Kayin, I had wanted that to be Elephant. So in talking to Garry about it he came up with the concept of a Stone Elephant and I offered him the chance to create him as a character.

You can see that a lot of his original elements remained, in this concept drawing he is wearing more of a ring entrance type of outfit (like Sheldon’s robe would be). If we were to do a 2nd sculpt of him I would probably have Simon do the attire in this concept sketch (the current sculpt is his in ring wrestling look)

Remember to come back Friday night/Saturday morning for the first look at Tembo’s 2014 sculpt 🙂
