Hints about Series 2

While I finish up the long overdue Bio for Talos (I had it done months ago but photoshop crashed before I could save and I did not have the heart to retell his story again lol) I figured it would be fun to drop some hints about Series 2

We are aiming to have it released around NYCC time again this year, with production overseas though there is always the chance for delay due to the need for us to resculpt something or tweak something, and then of course get test shots and make sure everything is in top form for release!

Simon is finishing up the final sculpt as we speak. Once that is done it will go to Adam and Josh to clean up for production and then its off to China for molding!

With that said you have already seen Ulric 3.0, we won’t show you the remaining characters for awhile but I can start to lead you towards their identities

  • One figure is a Legends figure
  • One figure is being designed in a way as to utilize colored releases unlike any of our other characters have before

So there you go, that will narrow down who is coming to a handful of characters. As time nears for a reveal I will drop another set of hints 😉

Legends so far revealed in art and bios are:

Deadly Dawg Brooklyn (Bulldog)
Deadly Dawg Noah (Greyhound)
Guy “Big Daddy” Smith
Vision : Knowledge the Owl
Vision : Samuel “Stretch” Jackson the Giraffe
Takeshi Sumo

Also I shipped the first January prototype figures today, so by the end of the week those will finally be all shipped and I can start getting the mailaway figures to those who have redeemed.

Production Playmats are sold out!

Over the weekend we are happy to report the first run of production playmats have completely sold out. I have called to place a second production run of these and we should have those available again in a few weeks.

I have also sent Lee a few ideas for new environments that we hope to roll out as we get closer to the release of Series 2 of the PVC figures.

On a side note I am finally getting over whatever it was that I got at C2E2 so expect new updates to resume as well as shipping of January’s prototypes AND the shipping of the mail away figures.

Little Weirdos C2E2 Coverage

Pixel Dan was not the only press we met with at C2E2, I spent quite a bit of time with my friend Frank who runs Little Weirdos, he took home quite a bit of MWOTR goodness from C2E2 and talks about it at the link:

We also must apologize to the MWOTR nation, we have a ton of updates on non convention related items but I have been fighting the nastiest Con flu I have ever had in 11 years of doing Conventions. I think I almost have it beat so hopefully next week we can return with the remainder of the Generations bios, a look at the Yvonne Wolfrom mail away and begin putting things in place for  you guys to get glimpses of Volume 4 of the Comic book and Series 2 of the PVC 🙂

Things I like: Hardcore Luchador & the art of JB Roe

The great thing about being a wrestling fan in the indie world is you run across a lot of great wrestling related things that people might not ever know about. In the comics world you have wrestling comics like Rival Angels and video games like Pro Wrestling X.

With the dominance of the WWE in all things merchandise, indie projects like these just feel like a breath of fresh air to me. And so I figured it would be fun if I let people who follow us know about two wrestling indie projects/indie artists that I have run across recently. That is why I called this segment “Things I like”. And don’t worry more MWOTR news and stuff is coming very shortly, but I do like connecting with our fans from time to time on a personal level, and that involves me talking about well…me :p

First up is a Kickstarter I found recently for the comic called Hardcore Luchador.  Now many people know my stance on Kickstarter, I do not feel like its something I want to use to fund my company but that does not mean I don’t support projects on it. And our Generations project is steeped in the tradition of Mexican wrestling history as are the current tag team champions Lapin Loco.

When I saw the artwork for this comic I fell in love, its very colorful and just in your face and over the top.

They are currently raising funds to put out their second issue,  and I have included a banner to the right to help promote them during their kickstarter campaign. They are currently about 2/3 of the way funded and so I figured maybe some MWOTR fans would find this interesting as well (even if its just $1). I wish the best of luck to these guys and hope that they get funded and get to live out their dream the same way MWOTR is allowing me to live out mine!

Next up is a awesome guy I just met this past weekend at the C2E2 Nerd City booth. A HUGE wrestling fan like myself finds it real easy to talk up a storm with other wrestling fans, especially if they grew up with the same era I did. So when JB introduced himself to me and gave me a copy of his Convention comic book I realized i just had to have the Mr. Perfect drawing he did, and luckily enough he had the original with him!

I regret not getting a pic with him, but I am sure we will see each other again since we have a similar circle of friends. JB does a lot of other wrestling inspired art and you can see that here and here.  Who knows maybe he will agree to do some art for us one day in our guest artists spot.

A closer look at Ulric 3.0

When we first went to China for PVC we told you if we decided to do characters that had been already released in prototype form we would make some changes to make the PVC unique. Well Ulric Wolfrom is an extreme example of this.

Ulric is near and dear to my heart, he was the first character I ever created.

His sculpt however in the grand scheme of things left a lot to be desired, simply because we did him first and had no idea how far we could push the talents of Simon or the tooling/cleanup powers of Marty and True Cast.

So because of that ,when lined up with most of the other characters he is less cartoony, less detailed and sort of plain. So given the events of the comic books we had a chance to redo him.

You will notice a few changes

  • New head sculpt, more character and more in line with characters like Sheldon Sabre in terms of expression
  • New pose, designed to give the figure more “playability”
  • Comic book changes, he now wears a glove on his injured hand
  • New outfit, long pants and Wolf pullover

At C2E2 we showed off the figure itself, now this is just a a copy of the original print. As we speak True Cast Studio is cleaning it up and preparing it to send to China for PVC molding.

Once of the things we wanted to expand on was to allow for some moves, which is one of the reasons for his new stance

We are quite pleased with the work Simon has done to breath some new life into my favorite Wolf, look for Ulric Wolfrom PVC later this year as part of our next set of PVC releases!
