I am so happy to be showing these off,  upon the launch of our line I decided I wanted to help PowerCon’s Charity Auction for the Keep a Chile Alive Foundation.

The question was what could we do?

So I contacted artist Nate Baertsch to brainstorm some ideas for theming my characters in the MOTU world. We did not want to go with the obvious choices which would have seen Goliath as Whiplash or Ulric as Grizzlor. The exception was Widowmaker, we had to do him as Webstor!

I asked Sherri Lynn Cook of the 4H if she could help me out and a few months later here is the beautiful result. These 3 pieces will go up for Auction as a set during PowerCon. The figures themselves, as most of you already know are rare, Prototype Ulric 1.0 and Goliath are retired and Widowmaker is currently unreleased.

Mentioned in the Winged Fury bio, here is the first art for Noah (Greyhound) and Brooklyn (Bulldog) – Legendary AWF Tag Team Champions the Deadly Dawgs.

They will be the first release in 2015 and launch the “Legends” line for us but they will be making an appearance in a comic sometime next year.

And even though they are currently out of the AWF (See Winged Fury bio), they are never more than a heartbeat away from the Tag Team scene 😉

We will be showing you more “Legends” as we go along, some this year and some next year leading up to 2015.

Widowmaker or Sheldon Sabre? Who will be the next AWF Heavyweight Champion? Its a question we spent long hours debating internally and a question that will be answered in the comic book we are including with this figure.

We decided to release the Deluxe version of Sheldon Sabre because as a prototype piece his details are a top tier example of what we are trying to do in the minifigure realm. He is the poster child for 80’s wrestling excess, like if you mixed the persona’s of Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan with the cocky attitude of Mr Perfect Curt Henning.

Don’t worry though Widowmaker will come but we have some grand plans for his release, we will reveal those near the end of September and how we intend to celebrate our 1 year anniversary!

There will be 2 color options this time, Gold was not available in the time constraints we had to make the Con and may be made available at a later date or by request

And as has become custom for our prototype releases he will come packaged with the usual goodies

I worked with Lee for 2 months prepping Johnny “Treegarr” Stumpz for release, we played with the production numbers using C2E2 as a guide and forecasting an increase in interest in the line.

Aztec Gold lasted all of 4 minutes, Lime Green lasted about 3hrs and Magnetic Blue lasted 5.5hrs so I think we are getting there.

Ultimately while we enjoy sell outs and are thankful for the reception we would prefer people have time to casually pick up the figures. So we will keep working on the production numbers as we move forward!

With that said we now turn our attention towards PowerCon, and tomorrow we will be showing off that Exclusive figure and giving all the details about his release. So check back Saturday to find out who is releasing next for Mystical Warriors of the Ring!

We are also currently working on our plans for NYCC, we are not quite sure if we will personally be there but MWOTR will be present and we intend to make a BIG splash in the Big Apple to celebrate our 1 Year Anniverary 🙂

Remember this figure comes with a “Golden Ticket” meaning if you ever missed one of our event figures so far (Windy City Wreckage or War Games) each ticket will replace ONE Event Ticket for the Mail Away (so if you missed both releases picking up 2 Treegarrs will allow you to catch up for the Mail Away).

We will be revealing the PowerCon Exclusive figure and all his contents on Saturday

Earlier today Lee and I sent Issue 2 off the printers to be ready for PowerCon, we think fans will enjoy this one as its almost 20 pages total and 7 of those pages are for the match between Sheldon and Widowmaker (compared to 3 we delivered in the Windy City Wreckage comic).

We should have one more comic this year and that will give us nearly 60 pages, at which point we can move forward with some bonus material to release a small Year 1 book and work to push it out online via Comixology “indie” division

As you guys know Lee and I have been hard at work on the 2nd Comic, it picks up with a recap of the events of War Games and details the match for the currently vacant AWF Heavyweight Championship at California Calamity.

In this panel we see the entire roster in the back watching the match go down. Anyone who has been involved in professional wrestling knows this sort of thing happen often, wrestlers are generally interested in how the performance of their friends/co-workers goes down.

And for this panel Lee has provided me with the series of pics to show how you get from concept to finished panel

We loved these paint jobs so much we decided to take pics of our own once we got them, Charles really brought out the details and made them pop!

Charles “Monsterforge” Marsh has finished painting up our Year 1 figures. They look stunning and will now follow us around the country on our MWOTR Convention Tour.

Over the past month we tried quite a few vendors for shirts, we liked the quality and variety that one of them offered so we adjusted the designs and they came in today.

We tried out Navy Blue, Pink, Red and Black and all turned out fantastic. So we will now move forward getting these run for our team members.

We are also working out details for our MWOTR “Street Team”, once we work out all the details and get enough materials readied we will begin the process of forming the volunteer group to help spread the word
