And the first crossover figure is….

This day has been months in the making. A majority of character concepts and story ideas come to me in the middle of the night, this one was no different.

At 4am I had a thought, about how cool one of BigMan Toys characters would be wrestling one of our wrestlers. But I did not just want to ask Lee to make a different colorway, it had to be something unique to Mystical Warriors of the Ring.

So I talked to Lee and ideas went back and forth, and we now present to you Johnny “Treegarr” Stumpz from Fantastic Plastic Toys & BigMan Toys

treereveal

We will be revealing the sculpt soon along with the colorways and some info on the story. We are going for a Mortal Kombat-esque storyline with him so as to share the two licenses together.

As with all our releases he will come carded with several art cards and is supported by a comic one sheet illustrated by MWOTR Comic Artist and Treegarr creator Lee Burbridge.

His release is very important because it contains an exclusive golden ticket for our mail away, his tickets can be used to replace any missed event figure. This will be especially helpful to newcomers who might have missed out on Windy City Wreckage or War Games.

Reminder: Leo Corazon on sale 7/12

We have had a lot of new visitors to the site over the past 30 days, so I am posting a reminder that Leo Corazon will go on sale on Friday sometime around noon CST

971669_489553751121101_958094269_n

He will be carded however we have opted for a “safer” solution to removing the blister. Instead of gluing the blister down we have used the same removable adhesive that we used to hold our Wrestling Rings in place for Windy City Wreckage. It comes off without ripping the card and is strong enough to contain the figure on there.

We figured this was the best solution as it allows people to take the figure out and put him back on card, if they want a more permanent solution they can then adhere the blister on the card in a more traditional fashion.

There will be 3 colorways as always: Thermal Color Change Orange to Yellow, Aztec Gold, and Metallic Orange

3lioncolor

The price is $25 which includes

  • 1.6″ Leo Corazon Minifigure
  • Collectible Event Ticket for the mailaway
  • 3 Art Cards (1 Bio, 2 Artists Profile)
  • 1 Oversized Story Art Card

We have made around the same amount we did our debut set, without the benefit of a Con Exclusive and online only we are trying to gauge how many units we will need regularly.

Later this week we will also reveal the Fantastic Plastic Toys X BigManToys character/figure. To recap what I have said so far

  1. Its a character created by BigManToys
  2. It lives in the same environment as a toad, turtle, salamander, etc

We are pretty sure if people really think long and hard with those 2 hints they can figure out, if not then you will find out later this week 🙂

Artist Profile: Jazyl Homavazir

Our latest artist profile is on the man behind the art. I have known Jazyl for almost a decade, going back to our friendship on he-man.org where he is known as “2-Bad”.

When I originally came up with the idea for this universe I knew there was only one person who would “get” what I was wanting to convey. It is actually through his art that I was put into contact with Simon for the first time; Simon frequently works Jazyl’s art commissions into sculpts so he has a unique familiarity with it.

The usual process for how we work is simple. I have an idea or concept and sketch it out. Then I send it to him with some notes and references to convey what I want. He then returns his impression of that and we move forward.

This is a quick and dirty glimpse into how we work, my concept as seen through his talented hand:

Jazyl is an animation professional, specializing in character design and 2d animation. He is a lifelong fan of anime/manga & He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. In 2010 he created the web manga series ‘The Beast Legion, which is currently ongoing and took top honors in 2011 at Comic Con India for Best Webcomic Series.

He also works as an animation director for Anitracks Media on their upcoming animated show ‘The Age of Lions

We have many more characters to show off to you as things roll forward! We have supporting characters, new wrestlers, and updates to old favorites who might get a new look down the road. So as with all of our team we look forward to the future and the awesome creations that will spring from our minds!

Next comic teaser

This weekend we showed you a silhouette of the August figure, today we show you a piece of the comic that will accompany him, in this panel he is proving to be quite the challenge for Widowmaker

comictease

The comic, when done, will be shorter than the Windy City Wreckage edition. That was telling two stories at one time. A comic similar to that one which is longer and more elaborate will come this fall.

As July gets rolling on we will be showing you more and more leading up to the full reveal of this figure/character

FPT x Bigman Toys Exclusive, revealed soon

Now that War Games is entering its final two weeks of prep for our 7/12/2013 release, we have begun to turn our attention to our August exclusive figure.

This one is a little special and is our first collaboration. The idea for this figure came to me at 4am one night while I was thinking up the design of Talos and working it out on my iPad (where I sketch very basic designs of all the characters). I worked it out over the span of 2 months with Lee (the characters creator).

This figure will be very special because besides being completely awesome, it will contain an event ticket that can be used to replace any event ticket…a golden ticket if you will.

So if you missed out on Windy City Wreckage or War Games you can use this ticket towards the mail away at the end of the year.

Because of this unexpected release our overall release schedule will be readjusted. We may swap figures around due to the events that occur in the associated comic.

A female has entered the squared circle!

We are constantly pushing ourselves to do always go one one step further during the creation process. This is one of those times. Simon and I worked on her for quite some time adjusting things down to the smallest detail.

As a result we have 2 versions of this awesome character. Her release is special and will be explained in the coming month or so. With next year being the year of the Tag Team we felt it fitting to showcase the manager of the current AWF Tag Team Champions.

We present to you on this glorious last weekend of June, Yvonne Wolfrom…
